Pussy Cats II – Favourite Things

Ink on watercolour paper. Pussy Cats II is the second cats inspired piece in my new collection.  

With this style of artwork, I create the background ink study first. Then, looking at the abstract, I decide on how best to incorporate a theme into the space available. In this particular piece, the colours and patterns inspired me to a cats scene, and I have used the ink patterns to inspire the perspective. 

I used a traditional brush based work and high-quality lightfast inks on hand-made watercolour paper with an abstracted background. This has been painted in acrylic inks on specialist Two Rivers hand pressed 300GSM paper.
