Description
Newark Priory is very close to my home town of Woking. This centuries old abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII. It’s located in the village of Ripley with the Basingstoke Canal running alongside and is a beautiful spot for a walk.
This piece was painted based on a local walk a couple of years ago when the water weeds were taking over. They have since been cleared but I couldn’t help but add them. I love that the cattle can give a sense of the ruins’ scale in the distance.
