Foxglove Forest Clearing

Last June, the London Plein Air Painters took a trip to the Isle of Wight Painting. We were able to take advantage of this beautiful Foxglove clearing in the woods. A very rare occurrence apparently. It happens when a tree falls and the dormant seeds sprout. It was such a beautiful summer day and lots of the artists took advantage of the spot. This painting has the lovely atmospheric mood I was after and really works with the loose palette knife applications of oil paint.
